John Heap

John Heap has been involved in the Geo-synthetic Industry since 1979. John began running the day-to-day field operations for Colorado Lining Company in 1979. He ran one of the first large Coal Ash lining project at R. D. Nixon power plant installing 55 acres of 20 Mil PVC – The project is still in service in 2022. Working closely with his father Robert Heap they built an international fabrication and geo-synthetic construction company from the ground up. John took over the reins at Colorado Lining International in 1992 and has continued the growth of CLI to become one of the leaders in the industry.


John has served on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Geo-synthetic Installers (IAGI) for 10 years helping guide the Geomembrane installation industry to build projects right the first time. John also served on the Board of Directors for the Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) which is dedicated to educating the regulatory and engineering industry on the use of large factory-fabricated panels to solve containment issues with higher-quality products that are factory built.


John and his wife Suzi have 2 daughters who both graduated with honors while competing in Division 1 athletics at Xavier and Drake University. They all live in Denver, CO and enjoy spending time at their ranch near Hartsel, CO with family and friends.
